Wrestlemania 28 Review

Hello readers,

Once again, I will be giving my point of view on a pro wrestling event. This edition of LTM's POV is on Wrestlemania 28 that took place on April 1st, 2012 in Miami, Florida.

Wrestlemania 28, which is considered by some as the Superbowl of wrestling, is by far the most anticipated WWE event of the year. The most popular wrestlers of the year always have a match on this show, and there are usually a few guest appearances by celebrities as well. So, I decided to watch the show online, and here are my thoughts!

First off, my favourite match would definitely have to be the battle between 2 of the oldest wrestlers to still be wrestling in the WWE, Triple H vs. The Undertaker in a Cage Match. Despite both of these guys getting older, this was by far the most fast paced match of the night. The match was also pretty crazy, with both wrestlers hitting each other with steel steps and sledge hammers.

Another match that I really enjoyed was Chris Jericho vs. CM Punk for the WWE Championship. I really enjoy watching both of these guys in the ring and I found the match very hard-hitting.

On the negative side, I didn't enjoy the lengths of the matches. I found every match way too long which made the show a little bit less enjoyable. I also did not enjoy the music performances by Flo Rida and P. Diddy since their stuff isn't really my type of music.

All in all, it was a good show and I would recommend all wrestling fans to watch the Triple H vs. The Undertaker match on YouTube.

   That's all for now.

COMMENTS:
1. ''Wow...it's almost the 28th wrestlemania..I cannot believe it, the last time I watched wrestling was 2 years ago! The time goes by fast, eh?!? But, great descriptive review. Even I like tough fights its quite hype!!! It gets your blood boiling when you see the guy you want to win, loses, its so annoying! Fantastic Liam, it has been so long I watched it but you reminded me of those tough nights!'' - Ema

2. ''fully agree with the match of triple h and the undertaker! it was really awesome! I really love the way you said that it is like the superbowl of wrestling because it is true! Great review!'' - Steve

Rock n Roll Jesus Review

Hello readers,

Today, I will be going back to the music side of things and will be sharing my opinions on yet another Rock n Roll album. The word ''rock'' is bound to appear several times in this post, as today's topic is Kid Rock's 7th album, ''Rock n Roll Jesus''.

This album was released on October 9th, 2007 and 172, 000 copies were sold that week. Rock n Roll Jesus features a wide variety of genres including southern rock, country rock, blues rock, and hip hop. Two interesting facts about Rock n Roll Jesus are that it is Kid Rock's last album to feature a ''parental advisory'' sticker on the front of the album, and it is not available on ITunes due to him boycotting the company.

What I really enjoy about this album is that each song sounds quite a bit different than the next, something that you unfortunately can't say about an album every day. However, Kid Rock doing this is no surprise as he plays many different types of music. Up until 2001, most of his songs were hip hop, but now he also plays many different types of rock.

My favourite song from Rock n Roll Jesus is ''All Summer Long'' since I find it very catchy. It is also the most popular song on the album - as a matter of fact - Kid Rock was nominated for "Best Male Vocal Performance'' for the song at the 2009 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, California.

I would rate this album 4/5 stars, since the majority of the songs are really good.

That's all for now.

COMMENTS:

1. ''I think that a little variety of music styles on an album is good as well as it does not limit the listener to just one specific genre. I think i might listen to Kid rock now that you've mentioned him his songs seem to be pretty good.'' - Ross

2. ''I heard a few songs from Kid Rock and didn't really like him because his voice is too raspy, but after reading this review, I'll check out more by him, it was a very good review that would make anyone want to listen to this album. GOOD JOB!'' - Jack

TOW Wrestling Review

Hello readers,

On Wednesday, I talked about a wrestling show happening at Centre- Pierre Charbonneau in Montreal on Saturday, May 5th. Now that the show is in the history books and I was there to witness it, let me tell you all what I thought.

First off, before the event there was a ''FanFest'' where fans had the opportunity to buy wrestling merchandise and meet some of the wrestlers. I was really hoping to get to meet former WWE star Chris Masters, since he is someone that I used to watch on television a few years ago and found him quite entertaining. I ended up getting to meet him before the show started.

The show was really awesome. All 6 matches were great. I also enjoyed getting to see Chris Masters and another former WWE wrestler, Vader, in action. However, the last match was by far my favourite, when former WWE star Sylvain Grenier took on a local wrestler named Samson. Sitting in the 2nd row, I had to move back since both wrestlers had gotten out of the ring and began to fight in the crowd. Slamming each other onto the floor, this was no doubt the craziest match of the night.

Another thing that I always enjoy at live wrestling shows (and that I could go on for days about) is watching the fans that are over the age of 18 and still think that wrestling is real. There's nothing funnier at a wrestling show than seeing a fan get so mad at a wrestler to the point that security guards have to come and make sure the person doesn't try to hit the wrestler.

I had a great night and would highly recommend all wrestling fans to attend the next TOW event at Centre-Pierre Charbonneau on September 22nd.

   That's all for now.

COMMENTS:

1. ''It's cool that you got to meet The MasterPiece Chris Masters before the show nice.
I also agree that it's hilarious to see wrestling fans over 18 thinking wrestling is real and getting mad, but i prefer to see wrestling fans over 18 cry because they think the wrestlers are actually getting hurt.'' - Ross

2. ''I'm not a big wrestling fan, but this blog makes wrestling sound very entertaining to watch. It must have been very intense to see the wrestlers come and fight in the crowd, I can only imagine what it was like, Very nice blog entry.'' -Jack

Over 10 Great Songs on ''Ten''

Hello readers,

I will continue my routine of writing about wrestling on one day and music on the next by making today's topic about Seattle Grunge band Pearl Jam's debut album, Ten.

The album came out in August of 1991 but only became successful a year later. By late 1992, Ten had reached number two on the Billboard 200 chart. This was not only Pearl Jam's very first album, but also their most successful. By the end of 2011,a total of 13, 500, 000 copies of Ten had been sold.

Pearl Jam would definitely have to be one of my top 10 favourite bands and ironically enough, Ten is my favourite album of theirs. All of my favourite Pearl Jam songs are on that album, such as Alive,  Even Flow, and especially Black. I find Black a really cool song because most of it is relatively slow, but the chorus is much more intense. I had originally assumed that the song had no particular meaning to it since the lyrics to the song are very confusing, however, after looking it up on the internet I realized that it's about a broken-hearted man, singing about his deceased wife.  This song gained popularity after Pearl Jam's MTV Unplugged appearance in 1991. To this day, people still consider that to be the best version of the song.

Another very interesting song is ''Jeremy'', as it is based on  a true story about a teenaget named Jeremy who had gotten bullied at his school until one day, he arrived at his school with a .357 Magnum revolver and shot himself in the head in front of his teacher and fellow classmates. Although I don't enjoy the story behind it, I enjoy this song because of it's fast paced beat.

Pearl Jam has a very particular sound, so I definitely would not recommend this album to everyone. However, l have posted links of the songs that I had mentioned below for those who many be interested.

   That's all for now.

COMMENTS:

1. ''This is not the type of song I would listen to because I dislike slow songs but this one had a good rhythm and you can have a slow dance with your friends! I like how some of their songs have a story behind it and it has a lot of meaning to it which makes the song even more interesting to listen to. Something amazing you wrote about!!!'' - Ema

2. ''I never lisened to PearlJam but now that I have learned so much from them. Thanks to you, I might start listening to them! Great review!'' - Steve

Former WWE Stars Invade Montreal this Saturday.

Hello readers,

On Saturday, May 5th, there will be a live professional wrestling event at Centre-Pierre Charbonneau (3000 Viau street) in Montreal, QC. That's right folks, WWE is not the only wrestling promotion that does shows in Montreal, in fact, there are many different local wrestling companies that do shows in this very city every weekend. A countless amount of local wrestlers wrestle on shows in church basements, community centers and halls up to 3 times a week, performing in front of small crowds that usually pay from around $5 to $10 to see them in the ring. Some do it as a hobby, others do it with high hopes to one day get signed with the World Wrestling Entertainment. However, a few times a year, some of the best local wrestlers get a chance to compete in a larger venue, with a MUCH bigger crowd, and with some invited former WWE stars for TOW wrestling. This is the show that is happening on Saturday, and it will feature former WWE star Chris Masters, as well as WWE legend Vader.

I'm personally really looking forward to this event as I often go to local shows and I find TOW is by far the most professional of them all (especially because of the fact that their shows are in a bigger building). I also enjoy being able to meet many of the wrestlers before the show and during intermission.

Out of all 6 matches happening at the show, the one I am looking forward to the most is Chris Masters' as I used to watch him on TV a few years ago and now I'm going to get to see him live. I'm also excited for this particular match as his opponent is one of my favourite local wrestlers, ''Sexxxy'' Eddy Dorozowsky. Vader, who wrestled for the WWE in the 1990's, should also be interesting to see as he is 6 ft 5 and weighs 450 lbs. Even despite pro wrestling not being real, I would never want to have to go into the ring with a guy that big! His opponent on Saturday is much smaller than him, so this match will definitely have a strange mix of styles.

I highly encourage wrestling fans of all ages to attend this event. Yes, tickets may be a little bit more expensive (prices are between $25 and $50) but it will probably be the best wrestling show to hit Montreal this year. The links below have all further information regarding the event.

COMMENTS:

1. ''Once again nice blog liam I really like your description of the wrestling styles and, well everything to do with wrestling lol. I also agree with their being not only one wrestling company that does shows in Montreal (being WWE) but that there are tons of wrestling companies here in Montreal! Hoping to see more Ross'' - Ross Paraskevopoulos

2. ''Great blog entry! You make the show sound very exciting, even for someone who's not into wrestling. It really makes me curious as to what a wrestling match would be like, maybe you'll see me at the next match you go to. GOOD JOB!''

Appetite For GN'R

Hello readers,

Welcome to the second edition of LTM's POV. I had mentioned in my first blog that I'm always either going to be writing about professional wrestling or music. Well, because I wrote about wrestling last week and I'm not one to lie, today's topic will be on one of my favourite albums.

Appetite For Destruction is the debut album of Guns N' Roses and it was released in the summer of 1987. This album ranked position 182 on the Billboard 200 on August 29th, 1987 (about a month after the album was released) but reached position number 1 a year later. In 1989, Appetite For Destruction was ranked the 27th best album of the 1980s in Rolling Stone magazine.

I really enjoy listening to this album as Guns N' Roses is definitely my favourite band. I appreciate the fact that all of the songs sound different, which I find helps keep a listener entertained. My favourite song on Appetite For Destruction is Mr. Brownstone, I really like the beat of the song (especially the guitaring) although the most popular songs on the album are Welcome To The Jungle, Sweet Child O' Mine and Paradise City (links to the songs are posted on the bottom of the page). I would highly recommend this album to anyone that is a fan of Rock music.

   That's all for now.

Edge in Hall of Fame

Hello,

Welcome to the inaugural LTM's POV blog. Throughout the next 7 days, you will get to read my thoughts and opinions on both professional wrestling and music. Today's topic will be the highly anticipated WWE Hall of Fame induction of Edge.

For those of you who may not follow wrestling or are unfamiliar with the man also known as ''The Rated R Superstar'', Adam ''Edge'' Copeland (born October 30th, 1973 in Orangeville, Ontario) is a 7 time World Wrestling Entertainment Heavyweight Champion and had wrestled for the company from 1997 until he retired in April of 2011 due to multiple injuries. However, this would not be the last time you would hear Edge's name, as on March 31st of this year, Copeland was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

I have been a wrestling fan for about 9 years now, and I would definitely have to say that Edge is my favourite wrestler of all time. I have always enjoyed his unique style of wrestling as well as his acting skills shown in the ring. I also appreciated the fact that he was a really popular and internationally known Canadian wrestler in an American company. However, when I had heard the news that he would be in this year's Hall of Fame, I did not believe it. The main reason why I did not believe what I had heard is because the average hall of famer is around 55 to 60 years old and has been retired for about 20 years, while Copeland on the other hand, hadn't even been retired for a full year at the time, and is only 38 years old. I am very happy that this man was inducted as I personally believe that he deserved it more than anyone else.

That's all for now.

Comments:

1. ''I loved Edge and will always love him for his nastiness. Good job Liam on your very descriptive blog'' - Steve Turcot

2. ''Nice detail and use of vocabulary; very professional sounding and nice picture can't wait for more!'' - Ross Paraskevopoulos
